Annabelle Koopman & Bart De Parade

Grower, Maker

something

Annabelle is second-generation winemaking at this place. Bart is a renegade winemaker from Belgium. We have made wine together and seperately in different regions around the world before starting this project together.

We work the land, and are beginning our journey into biodynamics in the vineyard at Pakipaki since our first year here in 2023. We want to stimulate as much life as possible in our soil and environment to bring energy to our wines. Connection with this place and the land is the most important part for us.

With Annabelle's family, we farm 3.5ha of vines on the limestone foothills near Pakipaki. Syrah, Chardonnay, Viognier, Pinot Noir. The vineyard has been farmed organically for over 15 years.

We are planting small parcels of other varieties not grown in our region to experiment for the future.

Our production is small, and not from the entire vineyard; maybe 2000-3000L in a year.

As for winemaking, we want to influence the wine as little as possible. We aim to not add or take anything away from the wine; but some of our wines may have a small addition of sulfur before the bottling depending on the cuvee. Never anything else.
