The Aozina estate takes its name from the first plot that I cultivated, "Auzina" in Occitan which means "green oak", a species of endemic tree that is found in quantity in our terroir. Winegrower in the South of France and more precisely in the Agly valley located north of Perpignan in the Pyrénées-Orientales, I vinify in Planèzes, a small village of less than 100 inhabitants, in the territory of Fenouillèdes. The vineyard is spread over an area of 4 hectares in Latour de France, Estagel, Maury and Tautavel. Thus, it is composed of several varieties of grape varieties and soils. We find Syrah, Muscats of Alexandria and Muscats petits grains on a schist soil, but also Grenaches and Carignans on clay-limestone soils. The vines benefit from different exposure and sunshine depending on their municipality and altitude. They are all cultivated using organic farming, the harvests are done by hand and the wines are vinified naturally. Indeed, it was important for me to cultivate my land as healthily as possible. The future of our children, the heritage that we will pass on to them and the land that we will leave them are part of my concerns, so it is quite logical that I turned to the production of natural wine. I started my winemaking activity in 2020 with an area of 30 ares that belonged to my family and 2023 is therefore the third vintage. The range of cuvée has expanded and refined as the plots and their different grape varieties have been acquired.
