something

Hello, My Name is Giulio Steiger. Along with my wife Margarita, we moved in 2014 from France to Molise, Italy, the region where I was born. Molise is still an untouched place in Italy where nature dominates most of the land. My goal in coming here was to start making quality wine in this uncontaminated environment. We started planting the vineyard in 2015 and I chose three local varieties: Montepulciano, Aglianico and Tintilia. From those red varieties we make today red and rosè wines. We avoid chemical products in the vineyard; in the cellar, all the fermentations are spontaneous; we do not add anything to the wine except sulfites, around 20 mg/L for the reds, around 40 mg/L for the rosè wines. Beyond the vine, we also have olive trees and animals (donkeys, sheeps, chickens, ducks, among others) that help obtain a good compost. We are certified under I.C.E.A. for organic farming practices. You can find more informations in English on our website www.steiger-kalena.com and in the following article: https://www.degwineandspirits.com/2023/06/19/cantina-steiger-kalena-intervista-a-giulio-steiger/
