Bella Wines

We are a Natural Sparkling wine house based out of the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia.  Bella has operated since 2011, with Jay Drysdale at the brand's helm, touting regenerative farming, animal integration, and the abolition of synthetic farming applications.  Through Jay's tireless work, he has made Bella Wines the standout producer in BC for over a decade - the province widely embraces the bubbles and has created a legacy of natural bubbles here in BC.

In 2024, Bree McKeage, a seasoned winemaker and one-half of Ursa Major Winery, bought the company and is working with Jay over the next year to transition the business and expand.  She owns 15 acres of an organic vineyard in the Similkameen Valley with her husband, Rajen Toor of Ursa Major Wines.  They have planted Pinot noir, Pinot Meunier, Melon Bourgogne, Seyval, Marquette and two clones of Gamay to further the production of Bella Wines.  In conjunction with the Naramata property of Gamay and Chardonnay, Bella will be able to domestically produce their entire output in 2027, continuing to create organic and delicious bubbles for the brand in the years to come.

Bella produces both Ancestral Method and Traditional Method Sparkling, each focusing on the grower, the vintage, and the varietal to create a unique wine that highlights the year, the stories, and the processes. The Naramata Bella Estate vineyard is biodynamically, and the Similkameen property is organic.  Sulphur is only added at a maximum of 20ppm if we feel like the wine needs stability, and moving forward, Bree has plans to innoculate the Traditional Method cuvees with must from the next vintage.
