About
Château Meylet is a family vineyard since 1875. The vineyard is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon planted at a density of 7000 vines/ha. Since 2010, Chateau Meylet uses horses to work on their plots and is run biodynamically (Demeter) since 1987.
The year 2022 marks a significant change in the dynamics of the domain… indeed, Michel is definitely retiring and withdrawing from the company. It is Laurence CHRETIEN who takes his place as co-manager with David, bringing a new dynamic to the estate. David and Laurence have the common desire to continue the development of the domain by exploring new horizons, always with respect for nature and living things.
This new association is also a continuation of a partnership started in 2021 with a winemaker, Ivan BIREAU (Domaine des Hauts de Riquets) located about thirty kilometers from the wine domain lands, who shares the same values. This collaboration allows Château Meylet to expand its "Vin de France" offer, both for white and red wines. Its vines are worked with respect for life, in the principle of biodynamics, without tillage, without trimming. The choice of plots is made jointly as is the harvest of the grapes, with the same level of requirement. Thus, the grapes are transported by refrigerated trucks, without any input, to the cellar of Château Meylet, where they are transformed and guided to become living wines.
