JOÃO TAVARES DE PINA is located at Dao, 500m, granitic and clay shale soil. Cover crop with autochthonous chamomile, Lavandula in the top of lines, promoting natural fight avoiding the chemicals. Recovering lost grape varieties, manual harvest, low yield and blending in vines for spontaneous coo fermentations, low sulphur and no more chemicals in cellar.

"It’s been a challenging time for us in Portugal. On September 16th, wildfires took our home and burned 85% of our vineyards. It’s hard to put the devastation into words, but our determination to rebuild is stronger than ever.

Our winery and wine stock were saved, and we managed to protect a cherished 2.5 hectares of newly grafted vines that we hope will produce next year. A long-time friend has also joined us, bringing his organic vineyards into our care. Together, we’re starting anew.
