Matassa

Domaine Matassa is a small naturally farmed estate in the Pyrenee -Orientales , with 15 hectares of vineyard between 30 and 115 years old, around the village of Calce. We have chosen to focus on the indigenous varieties of Northern Catalunya including Grenache Gris, Maccabeu, Muscat d’Alexandrie, Lladonner Pelut (the Catalan Grenache), Carignan and Mourvedre. We have been farming naturally, using biodynamic preparations since our beginning in 2003. We have recently moved our winery to the village of Montner about 10 km from Calce, though for practical reasons we left the vineyards where they are.
