Natmoselle works representative terroir wines Mosel. It is a small family business with two hectares of vineyards. The grapes grow completely handcrafted on the steep slatestone slopes of the Mosel valley. It is a stony soil that forces the vines to root deep to get water. The farming is certified organic. Riesling is the best variety to root deep. The combination of riesling vines on slatestone soil is responsible for the famous unique Mosel wine style: light, refreshing, elegant, mineral. We work on steep slopes where wine has been grown for many centuries. Unfortunately, these steep vineyards are now threatened. Agriculture there is very complex and produces fantastic wines, but there are too few young people who want to farm these historic vineyards. We hope that we can convince people with the taste of the wines !
Our family has been winemaking for centuries. Our team consists of us two brothers Vitus and Aaron Reis and our parents Nicole and Achim Reis. All our wines are unfiltered, vegan and have no residual sugar. All the wines and sparkling wines have no or maximum 10mg of added sulfur. In the future we will try to avoid any adding of sulfur. Of course all wines are spontaneously fermented with minimum intervention and no additives. We fill the must into old and often used oak barrels. We fill the barrels up completely up and then simply do nothing. The natural increase in fermentation temperature ensures complete fermentation and usually initiates malolactic fermentation. Our perfect hand picking selection quality allows us to do nothing but trust in the grapes to become great wines. Three of our plots are planted with Riesling vines, one plot with Pinot Noir. At the moment we offer 4 wines: Petnat Riesling, Moselrausch Riesling, Alte Reben Riesling and Rosé Pinot noir. The wines are clear and animating cool climate wines, so they offer an interesting alternative to the more fullbodied wines from southern wine countries. We love it !
